Only buy Made in the USA American Flags!

Did you know?
Every month, over 100,000 US flags are sold on Amazon that are Made in China and violate the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act (Textile Act 15 U.S.C. 70) and the Federal Trade Commission Act (FTCA 15 U.S.C. 45). This is over 1.5 million dollars of monthly sales of US flags being sold that are not labeled with Country of Origin per the Textile Act.
Americans are buying these flags believing that they are Made in the USA due to deceptive marketing and wording on the Amazon listings. This affects thousands of American jobs and misleads consumers who want to support American-made products. Amazon needs to take action, but so far hasn’t.
To determine if a flag marketed as “Made in the USA” was actually manufactured in China, here are some steps you can take:
1. Check the Labeling & Tags
• Look at the sewn-in label on the flag itself. Legally, it must state the country of origin.
• If the product description says, “Made in USA” but the physical tag says, “Made in China,” that is a violation of U.S. labeling laws.
2. Review the Product Listing Carefully
• Some sellers use misleading wording like “Designed in the USA” or “Shipped from the USA”—which does NOT mean it was manufactured in the U.S.
• Check the manufacturer’s website for more details.
3. Look Up the Manufacturer or Seller
• Search for the company’s website, address, and manufacturing details.
• Some foreign sellers create American-sounding brand names to appear U.S.-based.
4. Verify with the FTC or CBP
• The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulates “Made in the USA” claims. If you suspect fraud, you can report it.
• U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) also enforces country-of-origin marking laws.
5. Analyze Price & Quality
• Flags made in the USA are often more expensive due to labor costs.
• If a flag is unusually cheap, it may be imported despite being advertised otherwise.
